Jane Garrity

As Director of Strategic Initiatives, Jane Garrity leads the Grants Hub and works with the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans to support research at Iowa State. She is responsible for the overall direction and operations of the Grants Hub. Jane also chairs the Sponsored Funding Support Council at Iowa State.

Prior to joining Iowa State in 2018, Jane spent ten years in technology transfer at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, University of Delaware, and University of Iowa. In her increasingly senior roles at these institutions, she helped researchers develop and patent their inventions, negotiated licenses and industry-sponsored research, and provided entrepreneurial education and support to faculty and students.

Jane holds a BS in biology from the California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She is a registered U.S. patent agent and a Registered Technology Transfer Professional, and previously served on the board of directors for the Iowa Biotechnology Association.
