About

Sponsored Funding Assistance for Iowa State University Researchers

Welcome to the Grants Hub, the central research development unit within the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR). Our mission is to help Iowa State University researchers win funding and build high-impact interdisciplinary research teams and projects. We offer a wide range of services to researchers from all colleges and disciplines.

Looking for research funding? Our Finding Funding services provide tools and training to help you identify relevant opportunities and collaborators. We even facilitate periodic OVPR networking events to build interdisciplinary research teams around targeted topics and opportunities. And keep an eye on our website for upcoming limited submission and OVPR internal funding opportunities – the Grants Hub coordinates those internal competitions.

Once you’ve identified an external funding opportunity you want to pursue, our Proposal Development team is here to ensure that your submission is fully compliant with and responsive to the solicitation – either as your primary point of contact or in collaboration with your college’s pre-award support unit. We can also off-load additional burdens like preparing budgets and submitting documents so you can focus on what is really important: your research. As a central unit, the Grants Hub is especially well-positioned to assist with large, complex proposals that require coordinating across colleges and institutions. Beyond standard pre-award support, we have in-house expertise to help you develop a broader impacts plan, edit your proposal so that it’s clear and professionally polished, and in select cases, provide graphic design support.

If you’re working on a complex interdisciplinary research project, our Projects and Teams services can help it succeed. We have Project Management Professional (PMP®)-certified project managers available to consult at various project stages. Our tailored tools, expertise, and evidence-based best practices will help you achieve your project goals on budget and on time, as well as effectively communicate and collaborate with team members across disciplinary boundaries. The Grants Hub also organizes the Research Collaboration Catalysts program, where up-and-coming Iowa State research team leaders learn from top experts in Team Science and put those lessons into practice to build the next generation of high-impact interdisciplinary research teams.
