NSF CAREER Awards: Best Practices and Mock Review
-
March 71:30 pm–3:00 pmCampanile Room, Memorial Union
The goal of the prestigious NSF CAREER Grant is to help promising researchers “build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research.” Writing a successful CAREER proposal requires clear articulation of long-term research and education goals that are cohesive and well integrated. A former NSF program director will give a brief presentation, and then recent CAREER grant awardees from Iowa State will share their experiences from the proposal development process, including their plans for broader impacts, evaluation, and other program requirements. Panelists will also share their proposal reviews so attendees can gain a better understanding of what the NSF looks for in a proposal. This session will be most beneficial for third- or fourth-year faculty who have begun to establish their research interests.
