Our staff has created and compiled resources related to Broader Impacts
Proposals submitted to the National Science Foundation (NSF) are critiqued based on both the project’s proposed intellectual merit and broader impacts. Per the NSF Grant Proposal Guidelines, broader impacts “encompasses the potential to benefit society and contribute to the achievement of specific, desired societal outcomes”.
Certain other funding agencies also incorporate similar criteria into their proposal guidelines.
We offer resources to help researchers develop the broader impacts portion of their proposal. These resources are available through the links in the “Toolbox”.
These resources include:
- A handout designed to guide researchers through the Broader Impacts planning process (developed by Sriram Sundararajan, Iowa EPSCoR’s Broader Impacts platform leader)
- Various databases and resources developed by SP@ISU (a program that helps support ISU faculty as they develop Broader Impacts activities)
Even though the Grants Hub does not offer a service specifically related to Broader Impacts, feel free to contact us if you have questions about Broader Impacts or if you need help connecting with expertise around campus related to Broader Impacts.
